School´s out
Yes, like Alice Cooper says, school´s out for summer. But not for ever, hopefully, fingers crossed and hope to die.
This blog will take a summer break, for as long as is necessary. I will watch some soccer, go to the beach, take a retreat, do some walking, and let the brain take a rest. Live a little without the need to evaluate if events or people around me are worthy of being written about. And I think this is the proper season to shut up and let nature do the talking. But I would like to leave you with two freebies, so you have a positive memory of the blog and maybe, come autumn chill and dying leaves, return for more. The first is a Celtic blessing:
Blessing on setting forth
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
The rains fall soft upon your fields;
And, until we meet again, may
God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Writing is not a liberal art, it´s in fact surrounded by many commandments, do´s and don´t´s. The first and foremost of them is never to let anyone into your writer´s study. However, as the second handout I thought I´d close with a short behind-the-scenes reportage that I´d like to call:
The art of turning a post-it note into a spiritual essay
Some of you may have read the last piece on this blog: Darwin, Alien scientists and the three revelations of God. Like most things I write, it is excruiciatingly long and lengthy. It´s written in one go at the computer, but I had a scetch from the night before (thoughts tend to come when one should really go to bed and sleep). This scetch, the content if you will, was in fact a post-it note. A couple of diversions, a u-turn, some elaborations and decorations and, voilá, an essay. For your reference I give this scetch so you can see for yourselves this incredible transformation or maybe horrendous inflation.
The three revelations
tangible
From concrete to abstract
not the other way around
[None is good but God] (in Swedish)
We know, love, truth and
goodness by God, not
God by speculating on
abstractions.
earthly
Alien scientist and fauna
[Unpreconceived before the revelation] (in Swedish)
It could be modern poetry, come to think of it...
